Mounting:
MOLLE/PALS compatible via two included long MALICE clips. Also mountable on webbing or belts up to 2.75" wide via two short MALICE clips (sold separately). PALS/MOLLE mounting grid features 0.875" webbing for easier weaving of MALICE clips.
Combo punch setup:
The two rows of PALS webbing on the front and sides of the PM4 Double Magazine Pouch allow mounting of numerous MOLLE/PALS pouches of various sizes. 2 row x 1 column pouches can be mounted to the sides. Two 2 row x 1 column pouches or one 2 row x 2 column pouch can be mounted on the front. Theoretically six 2 row x 1 column pouches can be mounted around the perimeter of the PM4 pouch. In addition, wider MOLLE/PALS pouches can be mounted across the front of two or more PM4 pouches. The position of the webbing is such to avoid interference with the cover flap from pouches mounted to the front and/or sides of the PM4 pouch.
Versatility:
The PM4 Double Magazine Pouch can be utilized as a conventional Velcro cover flap closure pouch, open top friction/tension fit pouch, or as an open top bungee retention shingle pouch by removing the cover flap then installing a length of shock cord (one end tied to the first row of PALS webbing on the front and the other end tied to the rear MOLLE/PALS webbing) and adding a pull tab. The PM4 is also ideal for carrying an MBITR radio, M18 smoke grenade, flashbang, or other similarly sized items.
Passive retention:
External elastic band provides retention for up to two standard capacity 30 round metal or plastic AR-15/M4/M16 magazines of various brands (USGI, HK, Magpul, Troy, TangoDown, Lancer, etc.).
Adjustable/detachable cover flap:
Can be adjusted for height to accommodate magazines with Magpul Ranger Plates, Magpul 5.56 NATO Magpuls, or most other magazine accessories while maintaining full hook and loop Velcro contact. As well as allowing the snap to be engaged. Corners of the cover flap have been tapered to prevent snagging and allow quick and easy stowing when unobstructed access is needed (read below for details). A large inverted pull tab allows fast and positive access to magazines with a single gloved hand. Cover flap can be removed completely if not needed.
Unobstructed access (see detailed photos below):
To keep the cover flap from interfering with access to magazines it can be folded inwards and secured by Velcro or tucked into interior cover flap retention strap behind the magazines. The tapered corners of cover flap help facilitate this. Exterior elastic retention band does not compromise pouch opening which allows for quick and smooth extraction and insertion of magazines.
Feature packed design:
Foldable bottom of the PM4 pouch allows the pouch to be completely flattened when empty. To maximize available PALS real estate; there is no protruding binding tape around the edges of the pouch, thus preventing overlapping and/or deformity of pouches when mounted side by side. Drainage grommet at the very bottom of the pouch allows drainage of water, sand, and other unwanted debris.
Minimal bulk and weight:
Cover flap and mounting platform are each constructed of a single layer of material. PALS/MOLLE mounting grid composed of 0.875" wide webbing instead of the traditional 1" wide.
