Mounting:
MOLLE/PALS compatible and can be mounted on webbing or belts up to 2.75" wide via one included short MALICE cilp. The mounting platform of the Pistol IAP is stiffened with a sheet of HDPE plastic, which gives the pouch stability when mounted to a belt 2" wide or thinner.

Low profile:
Unique design features inherently result in a simple and low profile magazine pouch. The IAP features passive retention, thus eliminating the need for excess flaps, Velcro, or bungee. The only external material is the elastic retention band.

Passive retention:
The Pistol IAP features three levels of passive retention. These three features working together allow immediate extraction of a magazine while providing secure retention of a fully loaded magazine under most conditions:
1. A thin layer of foam which is sandwiched between the HDPE stiffening sheet and the interior lining. When a magazine is inserted, the foam is compressed and pushes back on the magazine, thus creating tension.
2. 1.5" wide elastic band wrapped around the exterior body of the Pistol IAP which provides the main retention. 3. The interior of the back panel is lined with hypalon which creates friction on the magazine.

Access:
Because the Pistol IAP was designed for standard capacity double stack magazines or two single stack .45 magazines, shorter magazines of compact handguns will have less of the magazine body exposed. The height of the pouch body is 3.5" which was found to be the best compromise between retention and access. It’s high enough to retain longer magazines while allowing access to shorter magazines of compact handguns.

One handed insertion:
The pouch opening is designed to not collapse completely when empty. The pouch stays open facilitating quick one handed insertion of a magazine.
