Background story:
Adam was the owner of Smamit, in Israel, where he designed web gear and backpacks based on his love of the outdoors and military experience in the IDF. Adam made the original belt for MM in mid 2008, he was impressed by its simplicity and effectiveness. Adam was battling cancer during that time, and sadly passed away in 2010. The belt was never officially produced. MM showed us the belt in 2011, and he thought about resurrecting the design, with some changes. After first getting the blessing from Adam’s widow, we started the project and we named the new belt after Adam, in his memory. MM has refused his usual design royalties and has asked that they instead be given to Adam’s widow.
Purpose driven design:
Adam belt is designed as a low profile, thin, simple trouser belt. It is ideally worn under a padded war/battle belt as it is very thin and low profile while still remaining functional. Belt adds negligible bulk or weight.
Optimal adjustment:
The Adam belt utilizes a 'looploc' design with the hook and loop Velcro sewn at opposite ends unlike the traditional ‘tri-glide’ design of riggers belts which require the adjustment end to be folded back on itself with the hook and loop sewn on the same side. The unique design of the Adam belt requires less loop Velcro for the same amount of adjustment, hence reducing weight and bulk.
Feature packed design:
Loose end of the Adam Belt features a tapered end with a sewn in pull tab facilitating quick routing through the ITW 2" to 1" reducer. Hypalon is used to secure the reducer so as to prevent wear from the hook Velcro on the loose end as it passes through the reducer.
Donning and doffing:
To don the belt, just route the loose end of the belt through the plastic reducer. Once it is through, the loose end is pulled in one direction, while the pull tab on the reducer is pulled in the opposite direction. The loose end is pressed against and secured by the overlapping Velcro panels on the belt. For all sizes, the length of the loop and hook Velcro is 9", which provides about 4-5" of adjustability. Once secured, the belt stays in place and does not shift. The loose end can also be tucked behind a belt loop.
